Bible Reading – Matthew 16:13-17

Memory Verse: "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and His name shall be called, wonderful, counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting father, the prince of peace." - Isaiah 9:6

What is your motive about Christ? What idea do you have about His identity? What revelation do you have about His personality? All these questions are very important for you to answer. The right answers you give to these questions will determine your Christian standard. Your motive about Christ must be the reason why you follow Him. It is a reality that nobody will like to follow a leader who does not know where he is going. The bible is a Christian mirror that gives clear details and a true picture of Christ. Therefore, your motive must not be contrary to biblical ideas.

Here are some biblical views about Christ that will help your insight and understanding which must predicate your motive. The bible reveals that Christ is a perfect revelation of God - John 1:19, 20, 29-30. Also, that Christ is the express image of God in man - Hebrew 1:1-3, Isaiah 9:6. Christ is God’s appointed messiah, sent to deliver us - Matthew 1:16, 21. Christ is a perfect example for men. He is highly exhorted above all human race and incomparable to Adamic flesh or nature - Matthew 17:3-5. Christ was not born by the limitations of the flesh - Luke 22:41-43, John 4:34, John 5:30, 6:38-40; 8:29. Christ is the gift from God to humanity, by the abundance of mercy, to give a hope of life, through His resurrection from the death - 1 Peter 1:3-4.

With all the biblical motives given in our text today, let your motive of following Christ anchor on a solid foundation of the bible. As it was the Spirit of God that revealed it to Peter, not flesh or blood. May the Spirit of God unfold more revelation of these mysteries in your life today in Jesus' name - Amen) Shout three powerful halleluyahs!
